TuneECU seems to work for other recent KTM models, such as the 1190. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it mostly worked for the 1290. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it mostly worked for the 1290. I'm a programmer, and notwithstanding my total lack of graphic design skills I'm eager to write some code to get access to the 1290's data.

These things are pricier than I thought. Looking at these: Corbin: Corbin Motorcycle Seats & Accessories | KTM 1190 Adventure R | 800-538-7035.
All of that brings us to this spy shot of the KTM 1290 SM-T. Suddenly, those two worlds collide. Imagining that 1,301 cc engine, which makes 180 horsepower and 106 foot-pounds of torque, in a bike with the upright riding position, wind protection, and panniers of the Adventure, has me absolutely salivating. Both the 1290 Super Duke R and 1190
The stock 1190 has a lovely swell of torque that starts at about 4K, and it has a pretty quick (immediate) throttle connection. To my mind it's those things that make the 1190 such a pleasure to ride on the road. I'd hate to spend a big wad of cash to lose that or shove all the power up at the top end. #16.
Been doing some reading on 1190 vs 1090, and the rear shock on the 1090 went to PDS as well. Reviews generally range from the extra hp on the 1190 is great, to it being unmanageable and overkill on knobbies on the street, while the 1090 is listed as having great upgrades to the engine for low power and smoothness and feels more centered, to
In my experience (personal riding and classes) for off road/back road use, the 1090 is a better fast bike, and the GS is a better slow bike. KTM is definitely a race bred machine, and I absolutely love them for that. The 1090 is generally a large dirt bike, and it soaks up the trail/ruts/road with ease and confidence.
The 1190 seems like a great bike with an amazing motor and ground clearance. 150 hp and the weight offroad gives me pause, but the ride modes and traction control sound like they make things manigable. The ground clearance and suspension seem like what I want in an off road biased adventure bike.
